The Indies is an attempt by a small group of people to bring some cheer to this small section of the music industry and it is a result of pure passion and love for music.
The idea at the core of The Indies is to celebrate the best music released by artists and bands in the indie scene and has to be non-film. As much as awards are a platform to applaud and reward good work, they are a reason for all of us to get together and celebrate music.
The loss of life and livelihood due to the pandemic was staggering. For the music industry, which largely depended on live performances including concerts and festivals, the lockdown handed a very heavy blow. In those dark times, we wanted to find reason to cheer for the independent music community by recognizing the work of deserving talent and hence the idea was floated to launch the Indies.
